Overview

The Advisory Brief is a monthly consulting newsletter concept created for Meridian Advisory Group, a fictional management consulting firm. The newsletter combines strategic commentary, practical business frameworks, client-oriented insights, and timely resources in a polished executive format. Its purpose is to help the firm stay useful and visible between engagements while reinforcing its position as a trusted advisor to business leaders.

Goal
Create a polished consulting newsletter that helps Meridian Advisory Group deliver practical business insight in a format busy executives can scan quickly. The email is designed to position the firm as a trusted advisor by combining a lead strategic insight, a practical framework, a client-oriented case snapshot, and useful resources in one cohesive monthly brief.
Audience
Founders, executives, operators, department leaders, and professional-service clients looking for practical guidance on strategy, operations, growth, leadership, and business performance.

Design Approach

Challenge
Consulting newsletters can quickly become dense, overly formal, or difficult to scan when articles, frameworks, case examples, events, and service promotions receive equal visual weight. The challenge was to present substantial advisory content without making the email feel like a report, while maintaining the authority expected from a professional services firm. The design also needed to guide readers toward one primary action without allowing secondary resources to compete for attention.
Content Hierarchy
The newsletter follows an executive-brief structure. It opens with one primary advisory insight, then moves into a practical three-point framework, a supporting client case snapshot, a downloadable resource, and a short group of timely updates. One primary strategy-session CTA closes the email, while secondary links remain visually quieter.
Visual Direction
Premium professional-services editorial style with a white and warm-neutral foundation, deep navy typography, muted gold accents, restrained icon use, and generous whitespace. Serif headlines add authority while clean sans-serif body copy keeps longer insights easy to scan. Business photography and framework graphics support the content without overwhelming it.
Reusable Modules
Build the newsletter as a reusable consulting insight system with modular sections for a lead advisory article, featured framework, client snapshot, downloadable resource, quick updates, event or availability notices, and a final consultation CTA. Future issues can reuse the same hierarchy while changing the strategic topic, framework, case example, and resources.
Result
The final design turns a potentially dense consulting newsletter into a clear executive reading experience. Readers can identify the main strategic insight quickly, explore supporting resources at their own pace, and understand the next step without competing calls to action. The modular structure also gives Meridian a repeatable format for publishing future advisory content consistently.
